Manager, Cross Border - CIB (12-month Fixed Term Contract)
Lloyds Banking Group is a leading UK-based financial services group. We provide a wide range of banking and financial services, focused primarily on retail and commercial customers.
About the role
This is a 12-month fixed-term contract/secondment opportunity to join our Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) Chief Controls Office, working within the Cross Border team to help the business navigate the risks and regulatory requirements associated with doing business across different jurisdictions. No two days will look quite the same. You could be responding to Cross Border referrals, working through complex risk issues, or supporting the governance and regulatory change activity that underpins how Cross Border risk is managed across the business. You'll work closely with frontline teams, Legal, Product, Risk, Compliance and other specialists to understand requirements, interpret advice and reach practical, well-reasoned outcomes that protect our clients, colleagues and the Group, while enabling the business to operate effectively. This is a role where judgement really matters. You'll work through complex issues where there isn't always a clear-cut answer, bringing together business context, regulatory requirements and legal advice to reach considered, risk-based decisions and clearly articulate the rationale behind them. What You'll Be Doing Assessing Cross Border referrals and requests, understanding the underlying business activity and providing clear, risk-based guidance. Bringing together regulatory requirements, legal advice, business and product knowledge to help reach practical and well-reasoned decisions. Influencing and constructively challenging senior colleagues across CIB, including frontline teams, Product, Legal, Risk and Compliance. Coordinating and facilitating Cross Border forums, ensuring complex or material issues are escalated and progressed effectively. Supporting the identification, investigation and remediation of Cross Border breaches and ensuring actions are progressed through to resolution. Acting as a key point of contact with Legal and external counsel, supporting the delivery, interpretation and implementation of legal opinions. Supporting the Cross Border Framework, including Advisory Guides, governance, controls and Risk OpenPages reporting and activity. Assessing regulatory developments and evolving business requirements, coordinating updates to guidance and helping strengthen controls and ways of working. Managing competing priorities and time-sensitive requests, ensuring issues are analysed, coordinated and progressed at pace.
What we are looking for
- strong knowledge of cib/markets, with a good understanding of banking products, processes and how activity operates end-to-end
- experience within risk management, regulatory compliance, controls or a closely related environment, applying that experience to complex business issues
- analytical and problem-solving skills, with the judgement to work through complex or ambiguous issues and reach well-reasoned conclusions
- strong facilitation, influencing and relationship-building skills, bringing together different perspectives to reach an outcome, with the confidence to appropriately challenge senior colleagues, including at md level
- strong organisation and prioritisation skills, managing competing demands and responding effectively to time-sensitive issues
- clear written and verbal communication skills, translating complex regulatory, risk or legal information into practical guidance for the business
- previous cross border experience would be beneficial but isn't essential
- we're open to candidates who can apply their broader cib/markets and risk experience to the cross border environment
