Working within OVO’s Energy function, this role sits within the Renewable Energy Team. We’re a team at the forefront of the energy transition, leading the charge to bring more renewable energy to our customers. This role sits within a team of experts on renewable energy - who are leading OVO’s work providing first class power purchase agreements to renewable generators all over the UK.
This role in a nutshell:
You’ll work with our Renewable Energy Ops and Analytics team to deliver innovative approaches to risk management for our portfolio of renewable generators. You’ll lead on analysing out turn performance and proposing and implementing mechanisms to improve commercial performance and reduce risk within our Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) business unit. You will be led by the data - whilst thinking creatively to solve challenging problems.
Your key outcomes will be:
- Developing and operating accurate, timely and insightful reporting on PPA business unit performance, including identifying and quantifying key drivers of P&L outcomes
- Providing insight and analysis into performance data in order to drive meaningful business decision making
- Performing analysis of the risks and costs associated with renewable energy procurement to drive improvements in valuation and risk management performance
- Performing regular analysis of renewable energy data to support the accurate pricing and forecasting of PPA contracts
- Leading on the proposal and implementation of cost effective risk management approaches to deliver PPA profitability and reduce risk, in conjunction with our central Energy Portfolio Management team
- Providing commercial and analytical support to the wider Renewable Energy team as required
You’ll be a successful Renewable Energy Analyst at OVO if you…
- Have at least 2+ years experience as an analyst in a commercial or risk management environment (ideally in energy or a related field)
- Have analytical and numerical capabilities, demonstrated either through a degree in a numerical or science based subject or equivalent work experience
- Have the ability to cut through the noise and provide actionable insight and pragmatic solutions based on a variety of data and information
- Ideally have experience using BigQuery, Python or equivalent languages to build robust analysis and reporting, or have a strong desire to learn
- Are confident managing and manipulating large datasets with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Are willing to take the initiative in addressing complex challenges. You should thrive off direct responsibility
- Are flexible and willing to contribute across a range of projects.
- Have a drive to learn and develop new skills in a fast paced environment
- Are a self-starter, comfortable working both autonomously and with colleagues to deliver value in a small, high-functioning team.
