You’ll be responsible for managing and enhancing AI risk oversight activities covering areas such as regulatory compliance, ethical AI governance, and AI system security risks. You’ll set strategy, shape risk assessment frameworks, and support assurance functions for AI use cases. You will also be responsible for:
- Lead the Group’s oversight of AI/GenAI deployment, with a focus on transparency, fairness, security, and regulatory alignment.
- Coordinate AI risk reviews across the model lifecycle, covering risk identification, control design, regulatory readiness, and technical oversight.
- Shape and maintain AI oversight methodologies, policies, and assurance processes.
- Assess governance coverage across AI components: data, model, UI, hosting, and integrations.
- Engage senior stakeholders to coordinate AI risk responses and escalations.
- Drive improvements in AI risk classification, control frameworks, and mitigation approaches.
- Keep the team and stakeholders informed on emerging regulations (e.g. EU AI Act, FCA SS1/23) and AI risk trends.
What skills and experience can you bring to the role?
- Proven leadership experience in model risk, AI governance, technology risk, or compliance in a complex regulated environment.
- A deep understanding of AI/ML and GenAI risks across lifecycle phases (e.g. data handling, validation, monitoring, security).
- Strong communication skills to influence senior stakeholders, including presenting to risk committees.
- Experience designing or applying risk frameworks to AI technologies.
- Track record in leading risk or oversight teams within a 1st and/or 2nd Line of Defence context.
And any experience of these would be a plus:
- Familiarity with security risk concepts: data leakage, prompt injection, adversarial threats.
- Knowledge of global AI regulations and compliance trends (e.g. EU AI Act, GDPR).
- Exposure to AI tooling or monitoring platforms (e.g. Vertex AI, LLMOps, model tracing tools).
- Exposure to ethical AI topics such as fairness, accountability, and IP risk.
