Organisations with a remit to protect their nation, its critical national infrastructure, businesses and citizens, face significant challenges in countering the continually evolving and increasingly targeted cyber threat
In this role the solution architect will lead the design and development of products for for national security propositions that include technology and services in support of international government missions, typically in national cyber, communications monitoring, anti-terrorism and serious crime areas.
The role includes the following tasks
• Technical design of multi component data processing systems. Understanding and elaborating system level requirements, working out a system level solution, breaking into sub-system requirements, working with development teams to refine the design, and generate estimates and risks – capable of judging when not to work out all the detail.
• Documenting designs and estimates aligned to team best practice and taking designs through peer reviews, design review(s) and solution review assurance.
• Writing content for customer proposal and contract documents, including requirements compliance, capturing the solution scope while also supporting wider solution aspects (eg delivery approach, commercial and risk).
• Creates new aspects of design and solution, not just capturing what others suggest, yet doing so in alignment with existing solution patterns.
Essential Experience and style:
• Strong technical background in software, hardware or digital systems. Able to work above the detail typical in their past work, yet drop in to detail when occasionally needed.
• Experience working on design or implementation of data processing systems, ideally across some or all of capture, processing, storage and visualisation. AI/ML -Big Data (Billions and trillions not hundreds and thousands of records)
• Some experience and skills hands on with systems, installation, configuring, maybe basic scripting, debugging.
• Some experience or understanding of analysing data, use of multiple data sets, search, filter and how to find something of interest.
• Knowledge of IP networks, data and protocols, and broad understanding of cyber attacks over networks.
• Able and willing to travel internationally several times a year, between a few days and 2 weeks at a time and at relatively short notice (eg ~1 month notice).
