Job Title: Senior Technology Development Engineer

What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting and managing the activities, performance and reporting for a range of Research and Development (R&D) projects across the key technology areas of interest of the Technology Management portfolio
- Provide advice to project technical leads and team members on development of research proposals, and mobilisation and execution of research projects
- Technically lead and manage a number of R&D projects
- Provide technical expertise in key technology areas of interest of the Technology Management portfolio
- Ensuring all research projects are supported in applying and following a tailored LCM process, adhering to key stage gate reviews with identified key stakeholders, in accordance with the Technology Management process
- Co-ordination of regular financial and progress reporting for projects across the key technology areas, and support reporting of the R&D portfolio delivery to the wider business
- Maintain a watch on technologies that may be of interest to the business, including liaising with universities, and communicating outputs appropriately
- Encourage, facilitate and direct the submission of new R&D ideas, ensuring the opportunities, business benefits, potential Intellectual Property, and plan for implementation and delivery are appropriately articulated
Your skills and experiences:
- Previous experience in facilitating activities and reporting for complex projects
- Previous experience in Stakeholder Management across a multi-discipline organization
- Project Management and experience writing quality documentation

Our team drives the business’s Technology Strategy, overseeing research and development to deliver innovative, cost-effective, and widely accessible solutions. We tackle technical challenges, identify opportunities, and propose research initiatives that push capabilities forward.
Beyond strategy, we manage a diverse project portfolio, including research projects, and implementation efforts, ensuring smooth project execution and continuous improvement. We also focus on refining build strategies and resolving in-service issues, enhancing efficiency and performance.
To stay ahead, we conduct market analysis, monitor emerging technologies, and actively participate in industry conferences and events. A crucial part of our role is stakeholder engagement, fostering strong relationships with universities, working groups, and customers to drive collaboration and knowledge exchange.We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
