As a member of the Payments Strategy team in Credit Cards, Consumer Lending, you will play a pivotal role in protecting and growing retail spend by offering customers diverse payment options and enhancing their overall payment experience.
Our teams’ key responsibilities are:
The end-to-end payment strategy and experience for credit card users across all our channels and brands – Lloyds Bank, Halifax, Bank of Scotland, and MBNA.
Drive a seamless, mobile-first customer experience.
Ensure the efficiency, effectiveness, and security of payments to maximise retail transaction completion (authentication and authorisation).
Leverage technological advancements and new payment rails to enhance existing propositions and create new ones.
Collaborate with Everyday Banking, Group Payments, and other areas (e.g. Open Banking) to deliver a cohesive payment ecosystem, shape industry direction, and drive customer-centric outcomes.
Our scope includes defining and delivering the Consumer Cards Payments strategy, monitoring the performance of deployed solutions, and understanding customer behaviours and trends.
The initiatives for your role will continuously evolve and are likely to include developing key authentication capabilities, new ways for customers to pay and digital propositions that enhance the end-to-end payment experience.
As a Payments Strategy Manager, your day-to-day activities will involve:
Collaborate with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders (e.g., VISA) to define, assess, and oversee the delivery of key initiatives within the Cards Payments roadmap.
Ensure initiatives meet business and customer needs and align with Group frameworks and risk policies.
Help shape, define, and prioritise the payment initiative pipeline to align with the strategy and vision for cards.
Maintain a natural curiosity and appetite for continuous learning in a highly complex, ambiguous, and fast-paced environment.
What You’ll Need…
Experience in the UK credit card and/or payments markets, with an understanding of customer behaviour, market dynamics, regulatory changes, and competitor trends.
A proven track record in leading the definition and delivery of innovative payment-related solutions and services that provide compelling customer propositions.
Strategic thinking and commercial experience to understand the success drivers and challenges of a business.
Strong leadership skills, self-motivation, and organisation.
Excellent analytical, communication, and influencing skills suitable for all levels of an organisation, with the ability to use data to support, enhance, and drive decisions.
A collaborative spirit, excelling at working with multi-disciplinary teams to achieve positive outcomes for the business and customers.
