Our Estates, Tax Planning and Trusts team deals with all aspects of estate administration and trust management as well as advising on lifetime planning, Wills and LPAs. They also have a growing court of protection practice. A number of the team are members of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and recognised as specialists in this field. The team forms part of the wider nationally recognised Private Client department of around 50 lawyers spanning across all four of our office locations and are ranked in the top tier of Legal 500.
Estates, Tax Planning and Trusts team is looking to recruit a paralegal to join the team based in Birmingham.
A paralegal role at VWV provides the perfect building blocks for future trainee solicitors looking to gain experience ahead of starting a training contract, or even to assist with applications for training contracts themselves, and that's due to the variety of legal disciplines you'll be exposed to. We're proud of our record in transitioning a good proportion of our existing paralegals into trainee solicitors
Is This the Role for You?
In this role, you'll be invaluable by taking ownership of the legal administration tasks to allow our lawyers to focus on fee earning working and business generation. You'll also assist with the production of marketing materials and seminar notes, maintain Lexcel compliant files, and assist with the drafting of client correspondence and reports when required.
You'll become familiar with the firm's compliance procedures for letters of engagement, file opening, money laundering, archiving, billing and client accounts. You will also get to brush up on those all-important client facing skills as you play a key part in gathering relevant information from private clients to assist the lawyers with their enquiries.
Who We're Looking For.
Perhaps you're a recent graduate, or you could be someone working towards a CILEx qualification. We're open to candidates from a range of educational backgrounds who can demonstrate an interest in private client work and the right transferable skills.
Whilst private client paralegal experience is advantageous, as it may help you settle in more quickly, it's by no means essential. What matters most to us are your core skills and attitude: strong organisation, excellent communication, confident IT ability (including Microsoft Office), and a calm, professional manner when dealing with clients and colleagues alike
Where Will I Be Working?
VWV supports hybrid working and equips all paralegals for home working. However, for our early talent, we believe it's crucial for development to gain as much exposure to office life as possible, so these roles are predominantly office-based. That said, we're happy to discuss individual circumstances and hybrid arrangements as part of the assessment process

If you'd like to discuss what's possible — even if you're not sure what you might need — please reach out to our recruiter, who'll be happy to talk through options and share what's worked well for others.
