About the role
We’re seeking a 0-2 years PQE Solicitor/Qualified Legal Executivefor our Commercial Property team in our Ross on Wye office. You’ll join our growing Commercial Property team, recognised by both Chambers and Partners and the Legal 500. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely alongside a Partner on a diverse range of real estate matters, including agricultural work, offering strong prospects for career progression and professional development.
Day to day, you will have a varied caseload, including:
- Managing a varied caseload of commercial property matters, including freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, rural land transactions, re-mortgages, and first registrations of unregistered titles
- Drafting and preparing key legal documents such as leases, Transfers of Part, licences to assign, deeds of surrender, statutory notices, contracts and overage agreements
- Acting for both lenders and borrowers, including preparing reports on title and advising on security documentation
- Taking client instructions and handle matters from inception through to completion, ensuring a high standard of legal service throughout
- Maintaining strong client relationships, managing expectations, meeting deadlines and ensuring matters progress efficiently within agreed timescales
- Supporting the Partner and wider team with client work, including handling correspondence, calls and general case management
Whilst this role is based in the Ross-on-Wye office, you will have the opportunity to work closely with the wider Commercial Property team across our other offices, as well as travel and engage in business development activities to build new client relationships and develop your understanding of the local and regional market.
About you
We’re extremely proud of the relationship we’ve built with our clients and referrers, being recognised as their trusted legal partner. It’s important to us that you have the right blend of skills to service their needs and develop new relationships:
- Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with 0–2 years PQE
- Proven experience in commercial property, this could include a seat during training within a property team whether that be commercial, residential, or agricultural
- Working knowledge of freehold and leasehold transactions, including transfers of part and leases
- Strong understanding of the conveyancing process from instruction through to completion, including re-mortgages and time-sensitive matters such as bridging finance
- Ability to draft and review key legal documents, including transfers of part and new build property transactions
- Excellent organisational, time management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills, with a proactive and client-focused approach
- Commercial awareness, good IT proficiency and a willingness to travel and contribute to business development activities
