About the role
We’re seeking an IT Service Desk Manager to join our IT team. The role will be Swindon based with weekly travel to other offices to support the team. You’ll be joining a friendly and collaborative team that supports the success and day-to-day running of the firm. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining people management with technical expertise, and who is keen to bring fresh ideas and make a real impact in the role.
Day to day, you can expect your responsibilities to include:
- Overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Service Desk, ensuring the delivery of high-quality technical support and excellent customer service
- Leading, mentoring and developing the Helpdesk team, including conducting performance reviews, identifying training needs and supporting professional development
- Managing and prioritising service requests, incidents and escalations, ensuring timely resolutions and clear communication with users throughout
- Monitoring service performance through key metrics and reporting, identifying opportunities to improve processes, efficiency and user experience
- Supporting and maintaining legal and business-critical applications, while ensuring compliance with data protection regulations, security standards and internal policies
- Working collaboratively with the wider IT team and business stakeholders to implement long-term solutions, improve technology adoption and enhance service delivery
In person support is provided to the Bath, Bristol and Swindon offices with travel to our other offices required on an ad-hoc basis.
About you

Your ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with our fee-earning teams will play a key role in delivering exceptional client service and driving successful outcomes:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent work experience
- ITIL certification or equivalent service management experience is strongly desirable
- Experience in IT support or service desk management preferably within a legal or professional services environment
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate, support and develop a high-performing team
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with both technical and non-technical users
- Good understanding of IT infrastructure, networking, cloud services, Active Directory and IT security best practice
- Experience supporting Windows environments and using IT service management tools, with knowledge of legal technologies and software considered advantageous
- Proactive and organised approach, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
