About this Opportunity
This is an opportunity to bring your experience and expertise in climate-related sustainability to Lloyds Banking Group where you’ll play a key role in delivering our sustainability ambitions.
As Senior Climate Manager you’ll be in a team of sustainability specialists responsible for ensuring that the Group develops and maintains positions on all climate and net zero related topics, with appropriate targets and ambitions in place aligned to strategy, providing strategic advice based on specialist knowledge, market insights and trends and delivering select Group led initiatives that impact the business and our four key environmental systems.
You’ll be part of the Group Sustainable Business team which sits at the centre of the Group and plays an important role in enabling Lloyds Banking Group’s purpose ambitions and activities which are critical to the delivery of the Group’s strategy and helping Britain Prosper. These include defining the ambitions and enablement actions across key areas such as affordable homes, financial empowerment, regional development, transition to net zero and protecting nature.
As Senior Climate Manager, you’ll be:
Providing guidance to the Group on the evolving challenges and opportunities in the net zero landscape and their interdependency with nature, adaption, circular economy and just transition themes and recommend and mobilise internal approaches on specific topics to ensure they are addressed where relevant and appropriate
Maintaining a strong relationship with the Environment-Nature team to ensure closely linked climate and nature activities are appropriately sequenced and coordinated.
Developing approaches for key emerging topics including adaptation and circular economy and how to integrate into existing environmental system and risk activity across the Group.
Owning the approach for updating and maintaining our external sector statements that integrates with business unit strategies and the process for responding to the annual CDP survey in a streamlined and efficient manner.
Responsible for maintaining and evolving the team’s approach for generating and sharing actionable insights across the Group
Using knowledge, insights and external relationships to develop areas of thought leadership on key environmental topics of importance to the Group.
Engage, as appropriate, in leading industry initiatives on financed emissions, target setting, portfolio alignment, transition planning (e.g., PCAF, GFANZ, NZBA, TPT, etc.)
Leading, empowering and developing colleagues to help build a high-performing team, encouraging and embedding new, agile and innovative practices to improve process effectiveness, efficiency, accuracy and pace.
Building and maintaining external insights on environmental sustainability issues and how they impact the Group to ensure forward plans focus on strategic issues of importance to the Group.

What you’ll need:
We’re looking for a strong leader with a detailed understanding of climate-relate issues and how they apply to financial institutions. If this is you, we’d like to hear from you!
Specifically we’re looking for someone that:
Has a deep understanding of climate-related sustainability topics relevant to financial institutions and their interdependencies with nature, adaptation, circular economy and just transition themes, including knowledge of at least one of the Group’s four environmental systems.
Understands net zero transition solutions in a number of sectors, has strong knowledge of relevant climate scenario pathways, target-setting approaches, and emissions reporting and application of these concepts to development of commercially aligned transition strategies for a financial institution and related organisational transition plans. Understands emerging approaches on systems thinking, portfolio alignment, expected emissions reduction, carbon and nature markets and adaptation challenges.
Is experienced in designing and monitoring transition strategies and practices to reduce carbon emissions to net zero that are relevant to financial institutions. Has the ability to conduct quantitative analysis that is able to extract actionable insights from external and internal data and reports to make informed decisions and provide strategic advice. Ability to guide business divisions in navigating climate-related topics and their alignment to strategic objectives.
Objectively defines and resolves a matter, improvement or situation that is difficult or undesirable. Uses information analysis and scenario comparison, applying logic, prioritisation and creative thinking, to formulate judgments and solutions that lead to effective outcomes.
Has a track record of identifying, understanding and successfully leading senior level relationships with individuals or groups who have a vested interest in the outcome and the ability to apply insights and experience to organise work so that the most important and urgent matter is prioritised.
Has a strong network in climate and sustainability related bodies and initiatives such as GFANZ, net zero financial alliances, PCAF, UNEP FI and Green Finance Institute.
Speaks confidently and writes clearly and concisely to convey information accurately, demonstrates good listening, thinking about what and how to communicate.
Coaching to go faster by demonstrating dedication to creating an environment that builds teams with skills aligned to strategy and creating new and better ways to embed change at pace.
It would also be beneficial to have experience in:
Climate scenario analysis including knowledge of key climate scenarios including those issued by the IEA, UK Climate Change Committee and other relevant market leading sector pathways.
Using evolving AI tools for analysis and insights.
