Job Title: Senior Governance Officer

Salary: £47,683.00 + Dependant on skills & experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Write, audit and implement import/export compliance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations including but not limited to US & UK Export Licencing as well as general import, export and VAT legislation
- Provide advice and guidance to the wider ITS team as well as the company’s various departments on import/export compliance matters, with particular regard to Military Goods, utilising a range of HMRC procedures including Inward Processing Relief (IPR), Outward Processing Relief (OPR) and Temporary movements
- Conduct internal process confirmations as well as assisting with other internal and external audits and risk assessments to identify potential areas of non-compliance
- Assist in the management of relationships with government agencies, customs brokers, and other third-party service providers
- Ensure that all employees are trained on import/export compliance matters and that the company’s compliance program is effectively communicated to all relevant stakeholders
Your skills and experiences:
- Demonstratable experience in import/export compliance and operations, preferably in the Aerospace/Defence industry
- Thorough knowledge of UK Import / Export Customs formalities, including but not limited to MSS data, the UK Trade Tariff and CDS
- Reasonable knowledge of UK and US import/export regulations, including ITAR and EAR
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure
- Professional certifications such as from the Institute of Export are highly desirable
- IT competent with proficient Microsoft word and excel skills
- Solid knowledge of international trade matters with experience of applying up to date legislation and Regulations
