As the Senior Instructor in Mechanical, the primary responsibility is to deliver top-tier training within the specialized field. This role also entails contributing to the enhancement and optimization of the engineering program relevant to the respective specialty, ensuring a uniform delivery of the curriculum across the program.
Engagement in regular feedback sessions with fellow Instructors and the Chief Instructor is vital to fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Leading by example, the Senior Instructor demonstrates unwavering dedication to Continuous Professional Development and initiatives focused on elevating standards within the Technical Institute.
Core Activities:
- Curriculum Delivery: Ensure the effective delivery of the curriculum in alignment with relevant policies and procedures within the Technical Institute (TI).
- Student Progress: Monitor and ensure the military students’ continuous progress, implementing timely interventions as necessary.
- Department and Instructor Development: Support the development of the department and fellow instructors through various methods, including identifying Continuous Professional Development (CPD) opportunities, providing in-house training, supporting team-teaching initiatives, and conducting lesson observations.
- Cultivating a Culture of Improvement: Foster a culture of reflection, improvement, and passion for teaching within the department, while maintaining alignment with the Code of Conduct.
- Collaboration with Engineering Team: Work collaboratively with the engineering delivery team to optimise students’ chances of success.
- Support to Chief Instructor: Assist the Chief Instructor in developing new and improved methodologies and solutions for Higher Education programs if necessary.
- Student Reporting: Regularly report student progress, attendance, and behaviour to the Specialty Program Chief Instructor.
- Instructional Techniques: Deliver lessons using a variety of differentiated instructional techniques suitable for various academic levels and meeting diverse student needs.
- Lesson Material Design: Design purposeful and appropriate lesson material to ensure effective teaching strategies catering to individual student needs.
- Teaching-Learning Materials: Prepare, select, and utilise teaching-learning materials for Qatar Military students, including textbooks and in-house materials.
- Student Assessment: Assess students and provide both formative and summative evaluations, along with oral and written feedback.
- Classroom Management: Adopt and maintain reasonable rules of classroom behaviour, ensuring consistent application.
- Administrative Tasks: Perform administrative and record-keeping tasks within the Technical Institute Learning Management System, ensuring accurate capture and configuration of student data.
- Course and Module Development: Support the development, implementation, and ongoing review of courses and modules.
- Teaching Cover: Provide teaching cover in the event of unplanned.
- Student Support: Provide support to all students throughout their learning journey within the Technical Institute.
- Coursework Assessment: Set and mark both formative and summative coursework, liaising with the Standard and Examinations team as necessary, and maintaining reliable records of scores achieved within the Learning Management System.
- Mentor Support: Provide mentor support to selected instructors regarding general teaching ability.
- Progressive Course Design Reviews: Assist in progressive course design reviews as required and within the Suitable Qualified and Experienced Personnel (SQEP) criteria, along with performing any other appropriate duties as directed by line management.
Requirements
- Level 4 Qualification in Teaching & Learning (including 90 hours of teaching practice).
- Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience.
- Experience with apprenticeship training programs involving international students.
- TAQA Qualified.
- Extensive military aviation maintenance experience.
- Familiarity with aircraft apprentice training environments.
- Profound understanding of Health and Safety requirements in classroom and workshop settings.
- Cultural awareness coupled with a high degree of emotional intelligence.
- Proficiency in utilising learning technologies for both classroom instruction and student self-study.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with the DSAT/BSAT guidance for Education and Training.
