Salary: £47,683 + depending on experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Ensuring compliance to company, contractual and statutory/regulatory quality requirements is maintained throughout the full development lifecycle
- Operating as the Quality Assurance focal point for Engineering capability teams working within the Design, Development, Test and Evaluation Service Delivery Unit throughout the engineering lifecycle
- Undertaking First Article Verifications and signing Certificates of Conformity on behalf of the business and supporting customer release activities as required across the varied teams
- Effectively conducting the timely investigation and resolution of all reported quality issues and Customer quality concerns associated within the Engineering Capability organisation
- Ensuring quality is effectively supported and reviewed and quality concerns are reported via the specific management review hierarchies
- Supporting the utilisation of business information to identify and proactively drive Quality and business led improvement activities focussed towards improving the quality of our products and services
- Conducting as required to schedule, all internal system / process / product / audits and provision of support to third party certification audits and the timely resolution of all identified non-conformances
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- HNC / HND (or equivalent relevant experience) ideally in Quality or an Engineering related discipline
- Good understanding and implementation of Quality practices, tools and techniques
- The knowledge of quality requirements for aerospace and defence contracts (e.g. EN9100, defence regulations and standards)
- Strong IT literacy, especially with Microsoft applications
Desirable:
- Knowledge and experience of our Customer Operations and any of the Aircraft platforms we support

The Design Development Test & Evaluation Quality Assurance team:
The BAE Systems Design Development Test & Evaluation (DDT&E) Quality Assurance team, work in close collaboration with our DDT&E Engineering Centres of Excellence to provide Quality Assurance expertise and support to all of our Air Support contracts as well as the development of aircraft equipment, support equipment, data and synthetic training devices.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within this team for a Quality Engineer at a Grade E level. This high tempo and demanding role will be responsible for the assurance and compliance of a number of engineering teams to company, contractual, statutory and regulatory quality requirements relating to the design, development and support of the products and services they provide to our National and International Customers who operate BAE Systems aerospace platforms.
