What you'll be doing
We’re looking for an experienced Pensions lawyer to join our Pensions Legal team, part of the wider Legal & Secretariat division. This role offers the chance to advise on a mix of pensions product, regulatory, commercial and operational matters across the Group’s Insurance, Pensions & Investments businesses.
You'll play a key role in enabling Lloyds Banking Group to deliver high‑quality pensions and retirement solutions for customers while meeting legal and regulatory obligations. The work is varied and fast‑moving, spanning strategic projects, BAU support and regulatory change. In addition, you'll support IP&I through its digital transformation by providing strategic and pensions advice on various initiatives such as digitising journeys and developing features for the Scottish Widows App.
Pensions Legal is a specialist in‑house team providing pragmatic, business‑focused advice to stakeholders across the Insurance, Pensions and Investments business.
You will be a member of a team which is collaborative supportive and focused on professional development. Our work combines deep pensions expertise with commercial awareness and an understanding of broader financial services regulation. We work closely with senior leadership and multidisciplinary teams, offering exposure across product, distribution, regulatory engagement and customer delivery.
The Legal and Secretariat division is innovative with a clear ambition to be Future Ready – multi-skilled, agile, and optimising our use of technology, data and use of AI.
In this role, you will typically:
Advise on legal and regulatory matters relating to workplace pensions (including master trust), personal pensions, and retirement products.
Support strategic Group programmes (e.g regulatory change implementation, platform migrations).
Draft, review and negotiate pensions‑related governance [and commercial] documentation including pension scheme rules, booklets and product terms.
Work with colleagues across Legal, Risk and the business to ensure good customer outcomes and strong governance.
Identify and manage legal risks, propose solutions, and help stakeholders make informed decisions.
Keep up to date with changes in the law and legal impact of regulatory changes with particular emphasis on pensions legislation.
Why join us?
We’re on an exciting journey to transform our Group and the way we’re shaping finance for good. We’re focusing on the future, investing in our technologies, workplaces, and colleagues to make our Group a great place for everyone.

Qualified solicitor or barrister with strong pensions law experience gained in private practice, in‑house, or a regulatory body.
Understands trust‑based and contract‑based pensions, legal and regulatory frameworks, and product governance.
Can communicate complex legal issues clearly and concisely for non‑lawyers.
Works collaboratively and builds strong stakeholder relationships.
Brings a pragmatic, solutions‑orientated mindset aligned to the Group’s values.
Has critical thinking, risk awareness, and sound judgement.
Is interested in exploring new ways of working including using technology and AI within your role.
