We are looking for a Placement Student to join our team of Landing Gear System Engineers in Filton.
This role will be the perfect opportunity for a placement student to get a varied and rich first experience and grow as a professional engineer being completely embedded into the team and processes.
You will be working alongside the Landing Gear System Engineer team locally and you will also be part of a transnational and transdivisional safety business unit who is keen to support your development on the role.

As an Landing Gear System Engineer, you will work across two areas of Landing Gear Engineering:
Occurrences
You will be responsible for monitoring in-service occurrences of one or more A/C programs for ATA32 (Landing Gear). You will participate in collaboration with different Airbus safety stakeholders (Airworthiness, Design Office, Customer Support, Chief Engineering) in the following activities:
Review and severity identification of in-service events in the fleet;
Root cause analysis and incident monitoring;
Manage any unsafe condition related to landing gear systems occurring in the fleet;
Present results during reviews in front of authorities or in front of Airbus internal managers;
Analysis and monitoring of the implementation of proposed corrective actions;
You will be responsible for the progress of activities and compliance with delivery milestones. You will also have to communicate the progress of activities to your Project Manager.
Development and Modifications
You will support the development and modification activities associated with the ATA32 (Landing Gear) systems, subsystems and equipment, in the following activities:
Participate in the design development and modifications of the Braking and Steering System;
Work with other ATA32 Engineers and signatories along with interfaces such as Systems and Structures, Certification Specialists, Chief Engineers, Procurement and Vendors;
Support Airbus Commercial ATA32 System activities, including introducing new functionality to systems, ensuring robust cascade of requirements to the system, and lead development of the system to meet the requirements;
Support phase reviews and Validation and Verification (V&V) activities. This is whilst ensuring activity meets Safety and technical needs, following the appropriate processes and procedures, demonstrating strong requirement adherence and V&V.
Studying towards a degree related to Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering.
Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.
