Job summary
We’re looking for an exceptional Senior Technical Architect to help us make a difference to our planet.
As our Senior Technical Architect, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.

Job description
Your world of expertise
- You will utilise a broad knowledge of technology and architecture to design and assure robust, scalable, and secure technical solutions, allowing Met Office data and expertise to be utilised by the UK Citizen in a variety of products.
- You will work in an agile and fast paced environment where teamwork and collaboration help to deliver cost effective, secure and user centric outputs to multiple internal and external users.
- Working in Partnership with the Products and Services Domain Architects to ensure that best use of technologies is at the forefront of how we work.
Your key duties:
- Working with the area Lead Technical Architects to ensure delivery of supported, robust, secure and cost-effective solutions to meet user needs.
- Owning the technical relationship between the developers and the architects, ensuring that best practice is followed.
- Working with the Product Manager and Delivery Manager to ensure technical priorities are given due weight and consideration when planning work to be delivered by the development team(s).

- Expert by nature – You have a proven record of developing secure, scalable architectures utilising AWS Technologies and have a working understanding of how to use architectural frameworks such as TOGAF to ensure standards are met.
- Force for good – You can utilise your knowledge to deliver new technologies such as AI, whilst considering the impacts on people and the environment.
- Live and breathe it – You are able to demonstrate your ability to consider the overall organisation goals and how this helps you shape decisions and influence outcomes.
