We’re looking for a Built Infrastructure Health, Safety & Fire Compliance Manager to set and uphold the highest safety standards across all construction and refurbishment projects. This role is critical in ensuring that every project, from design through delivery, meets legal, regulatory, and internal governance requirements, while embedding sustainability and safety at the heart of everything we do.
You’ll lead the development and maintenance of technical standards and policies for health, safety, and fire compliance, ensuring alignment with legislation such as the Building Safety Act and Fire Safety Order, as well as industry codes of practice. You’ll oversee compliance audits, inspections, and risk assessments, maintaining a clear view of compliance status and remedial actions across the portfolio.
As a trusted advisor, you’ll provide expert guidance on fire engineering, building safety systems, and risk controls, influencing design decisions and supporting project teams to deliver safe, compliant, and future-ready workplaces. You’ll also engage with regulators and professional bodies, deliver awareness initiatives, and promote a proactive safety culture across the internal teams and supply chain.
Role Profile:
In this role you will lead the strategy and execution of health, safety, and fire compliance across all construction projects and built assets. You’ll set the benchmark for safety by developing, implementing, and continuously improving technical standards that go beyond compliance, embedding best practice and innovation into every stage of design and build.
You’ll ensure that every asset, construction process, and design standard meets or exceeds statutory regulations, internal governance, and industry codes of practice, safeguarding people, property, and business continuity. Acting as a trusted advisor, you’ll influence major projects from concept to completion, ensuring that safety, sustainability, and resilience are at the heart of our workplace strategy.
You will work closely with the health, safety and fire team and external suppliers to assess construction project scope/designs against current regulation/legislation, making risk/reward balanced recommendations for remediation of any elements which do not meet current standards.

What you’ll do:
- Develop and maintain technical standards and policies for health, safety, and fire compliance across built infrastructure. Ensuring alignment with national legislation (e.g., Building Safety Act, Fire Safety Order), industry regulation/codes of practice, and internal governance frameworks.
- Lead periodic reviews and updates of standards in response to regulatory changes or operational needs.
- Oversee compliance audits, inspections, and risk assessments across the property portfolio. Identify and mitigate risks related to fire safety, or Health & Safety construction standards and policy. Maintain a central register of compliance status and remedial actions.
- Provide expert guidance on fire engineering, building safety systems, and infrastructure risk controls. Supporting capital projects and refurbishments to ensure safety standards are embedded from design through delivery.
- Collaborate with Deployment Teams, Construction and Standards, Workplace Experience, Deign and external suppliers to ensure consistent application of standards.
- Engage with regulators, fire authorities, and professional bodies to maintain external assurance and influence policy development.
- Develop and deliver training programs to raise awareness and competence in health, safety, and fire standards.
- Promote a proactive safety culture across the wider team, providing coaching and advice where appropriate.

- Health & Safety: Understands the Groups' conduct of duty and legal obligation to support the health of their workforce. Takes responsibility for the protection of colleagues and customers and develops creative solutions for potential workplace re-design.
Technical:
- Strong knowledge and experience with construction health, safety, and fire compliance legislation (e.g., Building Safety Act, Fire Safety Order), including technical expertise in fire engineering and building safety systems and professional qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, IFE).
Additional Skills:
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with BIM, IWMS, CAFM, or similar systems/tools
- Working knowledge of digital transformation in building services, including software, automation, and AI.
- Agile methodology and tools expertise e.g. Scrum, Kanban, Jira & Confluence, and experience of leading & working as part of an agile team.
- Ability to work at pace, prioritising tasks and adapting to changing requirements
- Experience in managing complex change
