Are you ready to design the future of flight testing with Airbus in Filton? We are looking for an innovative Lead Electrical Design Engineer to build and maintain the cutting-edge ground-based test rigs that ensure the safety and performance of our aircraft worldwide. HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM
Architect the Future: Lead a multi-disciplinary team to conceptualize, design, and integrate complex avionic test rigs for both current and next-generation aircraft programs.
Own the Full Lifecycle: Translate high-level customer needs into rigorous technical specifications and drive projects through Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews to final validation and handover.
Ensure Ultimate Safety: Guarantee that all test rig designs strictly adhere to HSE regulations and internal Airbus standards by conducting thorough technical risk assessments.
Drive Innovation: Shape the department's long-term technology roadmap by evaluating and implementing emerging capabilities like Test Automation and Digital Twin platforms.
Lead Operations & Partnerships: Act as the primary technical point of contact for external suppliers while serving as the senior escalation point for troubleshooting complex electrical problems on our legacy infrastructure.
ABOUT YOU
You hold a BEng/MEng in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Mechatronics (or similar) and possess significant hands-on experience in a test laboratory environment.
Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar industry-standard tools for comprehensive circuit and panel design.
Previous experience with leading projects or technical lead responsibilities is required for this role
You have a strong foundation in testing and deeply understand how analog and digital hardware interfaces communicate with software.
Avionics & Instrumentation: You are familiar with aerospace data protocols (such as ARINC 429, CAN, or AFDX) and have practical experience defining sensors and managing signal integrity.
You have a proven track record of writing and reviewing complex design documentation, ideally supported by knowledge of Requirements-Based Engineering or Configuration Management.
