Job description
Team/Division Overview:
As a member of a team consisting of 1 Senior Infrastructure Engineer, 2 Infrastructure Engineers and 1 Associate Infrastructure Engineer, the Infrastructure Engineer will help support the administration of a critical line of business suite of applications hosted on a cloud only estate. You will work closely with the Senior Infrastructure Engineer, WG Central IT teams and software support engineers to deploy and support cloud infrastructure services that underpin all RPW internal user services and external facing RPW Online services to the public.

Working directly to the Senior Infrastructure Engineer, the Infrastructure Engineer supports and maintains Azure Cloud and Office 365 infrastructure solutions and services as directed and according to Chief Architect and Service Owner to departmental policy. The Infrastructure Engineer will:
- ensure services are delivered and used as required
- work with and support third parties to provide infrastructure services
The Infrastructure Engineer is primarily responsible for the deployment, technical design analysis, maintenance and troubleshooting of cloud IT infrastructure to support mission critical business processes for the Division. You will provide technical support and assistance to infrastructure and transformation projects, focussing on excellent prioritisation, responsiveness and customer service.

Your main day to day responsibilities will include:
- Administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Azure public cloud-hosted components and systems, covering Infrastructure as a Service, Platform as a Service and Software as a service.
- Build, configure, and support infrastructure solutions following new and established designs, adhering to industry best practise, modern standards, and product lifecycles
- Implement, monitor, and support security controls in line with information security requirements, working with system architects and security teams to mitigate security threats within solutions and services
- Collaboration and engagement with other service delivery teams, business application owners, suppliers and vendors, as applicable
- Monitor supported systems, identifying and addressing potential performance and capacity problems to avoid impact to service
- Analyse patterns and identify trends in support requests to resolve systematic problems in systems, processes and services
- Manage, document, and implement changes in accordance with Change Management processes as required
- Produce and maintain infrastructure support technical documentation to a high standard to ensure consistent and repeatable operations within the team as well as implement new standards such as Secure by Design
- Prioritise and diagnose incidents and requests, owning and managing assigned tickets to completion, following standard processes and procedures
- Ensure that major or urgent incidents (P1) are escalated via the service desk and communicated to stakeholders, working with other teams and third parties as necessary to facilitate resolution and recovery.
- Work with other IT teams to ensure a smooth service transition of new systems into actively supported services
- Perform system maintenance, security patching, handle security incidents and production go-live activities, may involve working outside of normal service window hours.
