As a Senior Integration Architect, you’ll help shape how systems and data connect across MoJ, using modern, reusable integration patterns instead of brittle point‑to‑point links.
About the team
You’ll join the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO), working within the Chief Architect function and the Integration team.
You’ll work closely with delivery teams, platform teams, product managers and other architects to embed consistent integration approaches across the organisation.
What you’ll be doing
As a Senior Integration Architect, you will:
- Help design and evolve the MoJ integration hub, establishing it as a reusable, governed platform
- Apply and promote integration patterns such as APIs, event‑driven architecture and messaging
- Support teams to move away from point‑to‑point integrations towards loosely‑coupled services
- Design and assure integrations that are secure, reliable and aligned to MoJ strategy
- Work across organisational boundaries, including with Criminal Justice System partners where needed
- Contribute to architectural decision‑making and standards
- Mentor other architects and engineers, strengthening integration capability
- Communicate integration decisions clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
Who this role is for
This role could be a great fit if you:
- Have designed and delivered integration solutions in complex environments
- Care about maintainability, reuse and avoiding tight coupling
- Are comfortable working across multiple teams and organisations
- Enjoy influencing standards rather than just designing locally
- Can explain technical concepts clearly and pragmatically
Essential experience
You should bring experience of:
- Designing integrations using APIs, events and messaging
- Managing dependencies between systems safely
- Integration security (service‑to‑service auth, data protection in transit)
- Working in multi‑disciplinary teams
- Communicating technical decisions to diverse audiences
- Willingness to obtain SC clearance
Relevant experience (experience in some, not necessarily all, areas)
- AWS
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
- Containers & orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- CI/CD (GitHub, GitHub Actions)
- Python
- Open‑source development (public GitHub repositories)
