Solutions Engineer
Delivery & integration for enterprise and government customers · Deep-tech AI startup
Company: Tikos Technologies Ltd
Location: Hybrid – Bristol HQ (minimum 1 day/week on-site), with travel to customer sites as required
Reporting to: CTO
Salary: £55,000 – £65,000 + EMI share options + benefits
Contract: Full-time, permanent
About the role
Tikos is developing a next-generation decision-reasoning platform that integrates distributed systems with applied AI. This platform is increasingly adopted by enterprise and government clients operating in complex and often highly regulated environments. We are seeking a Solutions Engineer to lead this deployment process, from signing the contract to ensuring the system runs reliably in production.
This role involves hands-on, customer-facing delivery work. To clarify the scope: you will not be developing our core platform; the engineering team handles that. Your responsibility is to ensure it functions effectively in real-world situations. You will act as the technical liaison between Tikos and our platform users, including scoping deployments, integrating with their customer data and systems, customising for their specific use cases, and ensuring everything is deployed reliably and securely. Your time will be divided roughly equally between working in customer environments and engaging directly with customers.
If you enjoy deploying a robust platform and making it work effectively in the complex environment of a customer’s estate, especially for organisations where accuracy truly counts, you'll find this place suits you.
What you’ll work on
• Leading the technical delivery of Tikos deployments for enterprise and government customers: scoping, planning, integrating, deploying, and handing over.
• Building the integrations and connectors that link our decision-reasoning platform to customer data sources, APIs, identity systems, and downstream tooling.
• Configuring and tailoring the platform to each customer’s use case, setting up data models, pipelines, retrieval, and the guardrails and parameters that make the AI behave the way the customer needs. (Configuration and integration, not core platform development.)
• Deploying and provisioning across a range of environments, from cloud (GCP) to customer-managed, on-premises, and secure or air-gapped government infrastructure.
• Working shoulder-to-shoulder with customer engineering and security teams, translating their requirements and constraints into a working deployment.
• Running proofs of concept and pilots that demonstrate real value, then carrying them through to production rather than leaving them as demos.
• Troubleshooting integration, deployment, and performance issues in live environments, and owning them through to resolution.
• Acting as the voice of the customer back to the CTO, sales team and engineering team, feeding requirements and field lessons into the product roadmap, even though you won’t be building the product yourself.
• Producing the documentation, runbooks, and handover materials that let customers operate with confidence.
What we’re looking for
We care more about how you think and how you deliver than the exact lines on your CV. That said, the following will set you up to do well here:
Must-have
• 4+ years in solutions engineering, technical delivery, implementation, or a software engineering role with a strong delivery focus, with a track record of getting other people’s software running in production for customers.
• Strong scripting and integration skills in Python: comfortable writing the connectors, automation, and glue code that integration work demands. You would not be building our core platform, but this is a hands-on technical role, not a purely advisory one.
• Demonstrable experience integrating and deploying software into customer environments: APIs, data pipelines, authentication and identity, and sensitive data handling across systems you don’t fully control.
• Genuinely customer-facing: able to hold a technical conversation with a customer’s engineers and a plain-English one with their stakeholders, and to stay calm when a deployment isn’t going to plan.
• Comfortable in a cloud-native world: Docker/Kubernetes, CI/CD (Git-based), and at least one major cloud (GCP preferred), with a deployment-and-operations mindset.
• A security-conscious mindset. You understand that enterprise and especially government customers care deeply about access control, data handling, and auditability, and you deploy accordingly.
• Genuine startup temperament: pragmatic, self-directed, happy to operate without a fully defined spec, and willing to own the bits of a delivery nobody else has picked up yet.
Nice-to-have
• Experience delivering into the public sector or other regulated industries (defence, finance, healthcare), and an understanding of how procurement and security accreditation work there.
• Eligibility to obtain UK security clearance (e.g. BPSS, SC or DV), or willingness to undergo it; some government work may require it.
• Enough understanding of how applied ML / LLM systems work to configure, integrate, and reason about them credibly, you would not be training models, but you should be comfortable wiring them in and tuning their behaviour.
• Graph database experience (Neo4j, Spanner, or similar), our data is often graph-shaped.
• Solution architecture or technical pre-sales experience, supporting scoping and demos as well as delivery.
• Go, or another statically typed language alongside Python; front-end familiarity (Angular or similar) for the occasional full-stack session.
• Familiarity with security-conscious engineering and compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, SOC 2, ISO 42001). You will contribute to our posture in the field, but you will not own the framework.
Our stack
This is the platform you will deploy and integrate, not build from scratch. You do not need deep expertise in all of it, but you should be comfortable working around it:
• Languages: Python (primary, for integration and automation); the platform also uses Go and Angular
• AI / ML: PyTorch/JAX, deep learning inference, Gemini and other LLMs, which you will configure and integrate, not develop
• Cloud & DevOps: GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, Git-based CI/CD
• Data: Relational and graph databases, distributed processing
• Deployment: Cloud, customer-managed, on-premises, and secure/air-gapped environments
• Compliance posture: ISO 27001, SOC 2, ISO 42001
Why this role is worth your time
We are not pretending to compete with FAANG salaries, and you are probably not reading this if that is what you are after. What we offer instead is the kind of role that is genuinely hard to find:
• Real AI, real stakes. You are not deploying a CRUD app. You are putting a reasoning platform into the hands of organisations that make genuinely consequential decisions and owning the delivery that makes it real.
• End-to-end ownership. From kick-off to production handover, the deployment is yours. No three-layer approval process between you and getting it live.
• Closeness to the product. You sit between customers and the people building the platform, which means your voice directly shapes where the product goes next.
• Equity that could matter. EMI share options in a deep-tech company at a stage where employee ownership still translates into meaningful upside.
• Real variety. No two customer environments are the same, so the work doesn’t get stale — every deployment teaches you something new.
Compensation & benefits
• Salary: £55,000 – £65,000, based on experience
• Equity: EMI share options
• Pension: Company pension scheme
• Private medical insurance: Available on successful completion of probation
• Learning & development: Dedicated annual budget for courses, conferences, books, and certifications
• Working pattern: Hybrid from our Bristol HQ, with travel to customer sites as the work requires
• Culture: Small, collaborative, technically led team that genuinely backs its engineers
How to apply
Send us your CV along with a short note (a paragraph is plenty) to hello@tikos.tech covering: a hard delivery or integration problem you have personally seen through to production in a customer environment, and why a small deep-tech team appeals to you right now.
Please note: this role is offered at £55–65k. If your expectations are materially above that range, we would rather you not apply. We want to be straight with you about scope and budget from the start.
