About this role
We are looking for a Senior Web Engineer to join a new cross functional team, focussing on growing our Loyalty programmes within Just Eat Takeaway.com.
Your team will be focussed on expanding and enhancing our Loyalty programmes, collaborating with other teams across the business to deliver new Loyalty benefits and make these available to customers across all of our global markets.
As a Senior Web Engineer you will drive our architecture, write highly scalable and testable code, mentoring engineers & challenging our teams to strive for excellence. We work closely with a large number of other teams, with inner-sourced development as our standard way of working. In our organisation ownership is one of our core engineering principles - we write it and we own it. Engineers are expected to take responsibility for their work, including being part of an on-call rota to ensure the reliability of the system that we’re building.
Location: Hybrid - 3 days a week from our Bristol office & 2 days working from home
Reporting to: Senior Technology Manager
These are some of the key ingredients to the role:
- Take a leading role in planning, designing & developing scalable enterprise solutions using React as the main frontend framework.
- Collaborate with other cross functional engineers & engineering teams, as well as with key stakeholders to ensure we deliver exceptional user experiences.
- Ensure our web applications are optimised for accessibility, performance and scalability.
- Participate in our on-call rota, ensuring that we maintain operational excellence.
- Mentorship of software engineers.
What will you bring to the table?
- Strong frontend development experience, ideally with writing React or Vue applications.
- A deep understanding of JavaScript (ES6+), along with modern JS tooling/frameworks such as Next.js, Redux Saga & TypeScript.
- Demonstrable experience of unit testing tools/frameworks (for example Jest, Cypress, Playwright, React Testing Library, etc)
- A strong understanding of WCAG standards, CSS pre-processors / CSS frameworks & responsive UI development.
- Leadership quality - you’re able to guide and mentor other team members, influence architectural decision and lead technical initiatives
- A strong understanding of cloud services, preferably AWS, however experience with Azure or GCP is fine.
- Excellent communication & collaboration skills (we’re advocates of inner-sourced software development at JET!).
