About this role
As Head of Engineering for Product Security, you'll lead efforts to secure core application systems at a major e-commerce company. Your team will manage Application Security, Security Engineering, and Security Culture & Awareness; delivering technical training to developers and broader awareness to employees.
You’ll oversee tools and practices such as SAST, SCA, and threat modelling, while shaping the long-term product security strategy across all brands (JE/TKWY/10Bis/Skip). Key outcomes include reducing vulnerabilities, enhancing secure coding, and boosting security awareness.
Reporting to the Information Security Director, you'll work closely with tech and product leadership (CTO, CPO), legal, and compliance teams; ensuring alignment with legal, privacy, and regulatory requirements. Your role will be pivotal in both governance and cross-functional collaboration to protect the organisation’s systems and reputation.
These are some of the key ingredients to the role:
Lead global Product Security teams (AppSec, Security Engineering, Culture & Awareness) across the UK, Netherlands, and Canada.
Manage team leads and ICs, ensuring strong collaboration, communication, and performance.
Provide mentoring, guidance, and career development for team members.
Define and execute the long-term strategy for Product Security.
Align security initiatives with business goals through cross-functional collaboration.
Evaluate and refine product security strategies based on performance and risk.
Manage team budgets, including headcount, tools, and services.
Optimise resource allocation for cost-effective security operations.
Communicate security goals, progress, and risks to leadership, tech, legal, and compliance.
Ensure compliance with legal, privacy, and regulatory requirements, including engagement with the workers' council.
What will you bring to the table?
Experience in product security, AppSec, or a related field
Proven experience leading and managing global security team operations across multiple time zones
Strong knowledge of product security best practices and industry standards
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Competencies in market awareness, problem-solving, and innovation
Demonstrated ability to embrace uncertainty and lead change
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a relevant industry certification
