Agile Working Options: Hybrid – at least two days per week (40% of your time) in one of our offices.
Working Pattern: Some out‑of‑hours work and participation in an on‑call support rota will be required.

We are looking for candidates who are interested working in our Google Lab. Our team are responsible for the banks Google Cloud Platform, which underpins the bank’s digital journeys, data capabilities and emerging Generative AI workloads. As an Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll help drive the evolution of the cloud foundations that enable everything from our digital channels to data platforms and the bank’s growing adoption of Generative AI. Great infrastructure engineering is central to how LBG runs securely, scales efficiently, and innovates responsibly — and your impact will be felt across the whole organisation.
You’ll work across a large‑scale, modern GCP environment, shaping infrastructure patterns, optimising services, strengthening automation, scaling IaC practices and building engineering capabilities that accelerate product teams across the bank. This is an opportunity to influence platform direction and engineering standards at scale.
What you’ll be doing
- Engineering, configuring and optimising GCP infrastructure using a broad range of cloud services.
- Designing and delivering Infrastructure‑as‑Code using Terraform, Terraform Cloud and modular IaC patterns.
- Developing automation using Python, Bash or Groovy, and working with JSON/YAML formats.
- Evolving our CI/CD ecosystem across Jenkins, Harness, GitHub and other technologies
- Driving engineering quality through code reviews, design input, and lifecycle ownership.
- Working with Kubernetes (GKE) and modern deployment patterns.
- Collaborating with Infrastructure, Systems, Architecture and Software teams to deliver high‑quality, secure and automated cloud solutions.
- Working within strong control, compliance and security frameworks.
- Providing on call support coordinated with wider team
- Helping guide the work of junior team members
About you
You’re a hands‑on engineer who loves solving complex problems, digging into systems, and building secure, automated and reliable cloud foundations. You thrive in collaborative environments, enjoy exploring new technologies (including how infrastructure enables GenAI), and you’re energised by working with others to co‑create innovative solutions.
You’re curious, proactive, resilient, and always looking for ways to improve how platforms are built, deployed, monitored and managed.
Essential skills & experience
- Strong hands‑on experience with GCP services across a broad range.
- Advanced experience with Terraform and IaC.
- Proficiency in automation scripting (Python, Bash, Groovy).
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Harness and GitHub.
- Experience managing environments using GKE or similar Kubernetes deployments.
- Ability to work across engineering domains with excellent communication and collaboration.
We’ll be excited if you have:
- Google Cloud Professional certifications
- Experience writing security guardrails (Sentinel or similar).
- Experience with monitoring platforms such as Dynatrace or Cloud Monitoring.
- Strong creativity, adaptability and a continuous‑learning mindset.
